The whole system

How it works

Four steps, and none of them happen on a screen.

  1. Walk in

No calendar, no app, no “next available Thursday”. Push the door and pull a paper number from the red dispenser on the left.

  2. Watch the board

Your number lights up above the mirrors when a chair is free. Sit on the bench, keep your jacket on, it is rarely more than twenty minutes.

  3. Ten minutes in the chair

Say a guard number, or just say “short”. Clippers, scissors round the top, razor down the neck, brush off, mirror check, done.

  4. Pay and get a stamp

€15, cash or card at the counter. Read your card code to the barber and take your stamp. That is the entire loyalty programme.

Queue only

Why there is no booking button

Because a booking system is what makes a haircut cost €35. Appointments create gaps, gaps mean an empty chair, and an empty chair has to be paid for by the next person who sits in it. We keep all three chairs full instead, and you keep the difference. So there is no calendar on this website, no “reserve your slot”, no deposit. There never will be. If that is what you want, there are six salons on this street that will happily sell it to you.

Who is cutting

Three chairs

You do not get to pick. Whoever is free takes you — all three cut the same haircut for the same €15.

The Kurzhaar twist

The Stempelkarte

Ten cuts, ten stamps, the tenth one free. It is a real card — it just lives in this browser instead of your back pocket, where it would have gone through the wash by March.

Your card code

·········

Read this out at the counter. It is the only thing that matters.

This button is here so you can see how the card behaves. In the shop the barber checks your code against the till before you press it.

How it actually works at the chair

No sensors, no NFC, no “member portal”. Two people and a number.

  1. The card is yours, and only yours

The first time you open this page your browser makes a card and gives it a code. It is stored on your own device. Nothing is sent to us, because there is nothing here to send it to.

  2. The barber writes the code down

When you pay, read your code out. It goes on your line in the book next to the till, with the date. Then you press the stamp on your own screen. Two records of the same visit — that is the whole check.

  3. Ten stamps, one free cut

Show the full card at the counter. The barber counts ten in the book against your code, the cut costs nothing, and the card starts again at one.

  4. If you lose it, we have it

Clear your browser and the stamps go with it — that is the honest trade for having no account. Give us the code and we copy the count back out of the book. If you have lost the code too, we can usually find you by name and the month you started.

The small print, in full

  • One stamp per visit, per person, per day.
  • The free cut is a €15 cut. Put it towards a cut + beard and you pay the €7 difference.
  • The card does not expire and never has.
  • It is not transferable — the code is tied to a name in the book.
  • We do not need your email address and we are not going to ask for it.

Walked in at half five on a Friday, four people ahead of me, out by six with the best fade I have had in Duisburg. Fifteen euros. I keep waiting for the catch.

Take both my boys every six weeks. Lena is brilliant with the little one, who does not sit still for anybody else. Twelve euros each and nobody tries to sell me shampoo.

Three stars because the wait on a Saturday morning is genuinely long and the bench is not comfortable. The haircut itself is a five. Go on a Tuesday.

Bernd cut my hair the way my father's barber did in the eighties. Scissors over comb, no music, no small talk unless you start it. Stamp card is on eight.

No booking system, which annoyed me for exactly one visit and then made complete sense. You just turn up. Radical concept apparently.
